5.         Old Business

  1. Protecting Water Quality in Urban Centers (PWQUC) update: A significant proportion of the grant went unspent likely due to the trouble districts have experienced just trying to keep their operations going. The grant was amended to a lower amount.
  2. Illinois Urban Manual Update: An IUM annual meeting is scheduled for mid-April and will included several presentations. One of the presentations will be from NRCS’ Richard Hungerford and Ruth Book. An IUM logo will be voted on and several important technical issues will be taken on as well.
  3. Focused Legislative Taskforce: The group is proposing to make special pins to pass out at legislative events during the week of Earth Day at the state capitol. The pins are similar to the breast cancer awareness lapel ribbons but are green with a small stone in the middle that resembles earth.
  4. Farmland Protection Taskforce: Joe Bybee discussed the work being done in the NE part of the state and the progress the current bill has made.
  5. US Army Reserves Training (back on again!): Kelsey Musich, Stasi Brown, Shannon Allen, and Jim Nelson will be traveling to California to present at the Army National Guard’s National Environmental Workshop (NEW) on March 23rd and 24th.

6.         New Business

  1. Soil Erosion Sediment Control Workshop: The AISWCD held a mid-state soil erosion/sediment control workshop in Normal, IL on February 17th. The interest in the workshop was overwhelming. A wait list of 28 people formed so the Association will hold another on March 18th at the same location.

7.         Adjournment Dan made the motion Butch seconded
